Traffic Rated Tanks
Often it is necessary to install a precast concrete grease interceptor or septic tank in a vehicular traffic area. Shoaf Precast, Inc. has a full line of traffic rated products including our new 6,000-20,000 gallon Septic, Pump and Grease Tanks designed and approved to handle H-20 and HS-20 loading!
Our traffic rated tanks are poured with a minimum 5,000 PSI concrete mix, in addition to thicker side walls, bottom and top slabs, as well as maintaining a 2 to 1 length to width ratio. We reinforce each tank with grade 60 domestic rebar, which is cut, bent and placed per engineering specifications to ensure a true traffic design.
What is H-20 and HS-20 Loading?
H/20 Loading is defined as a vehicle load with an 8,000 pound front axle and one rear axle weighing 32,000 pounds representing a 16,000 pound wheel load. (See diagram below)
HS/20 loading is defined as a vehicle load with an 8,000 pound front axle and two rear axles weighing 32,000 pounds each representing two 16,000 pound wheel loads. (See diagram below) Larger footprint structures are designed to HS-20 standards where the possibility of multiple axle loads exists.
